This article shares the function to install the PTAC unit into the wall sleeve.
Before you begin: Make sure you have the necessary tools, equipment, and assistance to safely handle the PTAC unit, as they can be heavy and awkward to maneuver.
Step 1: Prepare the Wall Sleeve
- Clean the interior of the wall sleeve to remove any dust, debris, or obstructions that may hinder the installation process.
- Install sticker foams around the sleeve to ensure the outdoor air does not leak into the room.
Step 2: Position the PTAC Unit
- With the help of a friend or a colleague, carefully lift the PTAC unit and position it in front of the wall sleeve. Align the unit with the opening of the wall sleeve, ensuring that it is level and centered.
Step 3: Slide the PTAC Unit into the Wall Sleeve
- Slowly and steadily, slide the PTAC unit into the wall sleeve. Be cautious not to force it or damage any components during the process.
- As you slide the unit in, check that it remains level and centered within the wall sleeve.
Step 4: Secure the PTAC Unit
- PTAC units come with mounting flanges or screws located on the sides or top of the unit. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions to identify the specific mounting points.
- Use appropriate screws or mounting brackets to secure the PTAC unit to the wall sleeve. Tighten the screws firmly, but not excessively, to avoid damaging the unit.
Step 5: Test the PTAC Unit
- Once the PTAC unit is installed and connected, turn it on to ensure it operates correctly.
- Check that the unit is blowing cold or hot air as expected, and that all functions (temperature control, fan speed, etc.) are working properly.
Step 6: Seal Any Gaps
- After installation, inspect the wall sleeve for any gaps between the unit and the wall. Seal these gaps using appropriate weather-stripping or caulking to prevent air leakage and improve energy efficiency.
Step 7: Clean Up
- Clean up any debris or packaging materials left from the installation process.
Always refer to the specific instructions provided by the PTAC unit manufacturer for detailed guidance on installation, as different models may have slightly different installation procedures. If you are unsure about any step in the process, reach out to our support at warranty@genuinecomfort.com.
