This article is to help pair the thermostat to your unit.
Our PTAC (Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner) units have the ability to pair a wired or wireless thermostat for remote control. This can be used to control the temperature of a room or space. Most commonly, used in hotels, and residential units to provide individual climate control. Installing a PTAC thermostat can be a particular job, but with the right tools and knowledge, it doesn't have to be.
To begin, you will need a few tools such as a screwdriver, wire strippers, wire cutters, and a voltage tester.
Once you have all of your materials gathered, you can begin the installation process. Start by turning off the power to the PTAC unit at the breaker box and removing the cover of the PTAC. Before proceeding, determine if you have a wired or wireless thermostat connection. Wired means there are wires travelling through the wall and available to a wall thermostat. Wireless means there are no wires travelling through the wall.
The below diagram displays the thermostat connections regardless of a wired or wireless thermostat connection at the unit.

IMPORTANT: When wiring your thermostat, do not allow R and C to touch each other. This will blow the fuse and possibly short-circuit the unit.
Wired Thermostat
The wall connection will have all four or five wires available to connect to the back of your thermostat. Important to match each wire colour to the terminals exactly the same as your unit. Sometimes taking a photo of your unit's wiring will help with connecting your wire.
Pro Tip: Best to use the C wire (black) to avoid batteries to power the thermostat. This will avoid changing the batteries after it's drained. Essentially the power will be drawn from the unit, not the batteries.
Wireless Thermostat
The thermostat only requires two wires to be connected to the thermostat, R and C. Since the receiver is wired to the unit, the wireless thermostat only requires two wires to operate. Again, C can be replaced with batteries if a second wire is not available at the thermostat.
After wiring the connections, we will need to plug the LCDI power cord into the outlet. Once plugged in, check the green light is on. If not, check your breakers and switch them OFF and then ON to provide power to the plug. Once the green light is lit on the plug, without turning on the unit, hold HEAT/MODE and + for 3 seconds. You will hear a chime and the LED display will read "R". Turn on the power and you will notice the other lights on the display will not be lit. This means the unit is only being controlled by the thermostat and the display is not available.
Wiring: R = Red (Power) , C = Black (Common) , B = Blue (Reversing valve for Heat Pump) , GL = Orange (Low Fan) , GH = Green (High Fan) , W = White (Electric Heat) , Y = Yellow (Compressor)
*The receiver has stickers with labels for each terminal that matches the colour.
NOTE: If you would like to change the unit to operate with the display, press and hold HEAT/MODE and + for 3 seconds. You will hear a chime and the LED display will read "P". This means the control panel/display is in control and the unit can be operated.
